paste magazine live session.

This has been a crazy past 7 days. I released we were only kids then last friday, and then right at the top of this week we got invited into the Paste Magazine studios in NYC to do a live session. I’ve watched a ton of musicians I love do these sessions, from phoebe bridgers to julien baker to so many more, so it felt pretty damn inspiring being able to hold a microphone in that room.

It streamed live on Paste Magazine’s facebook page and youtube channel, and the entire session is out now. Watch it here:

We played The Glory Years, We Were Only Kids Then, and Ghosts. I did my best to make the most of the room I had in that intimate space and it felt like we really got into our groove by the end of Ghosts. I quoted my “Dear present time…” speech from Bookmarks during We Were Only Kids Then. Thought that’d be fitting given the theme of that song.

I’m pumped that the host shouted out Revive the Great Adventure, my book. Felt like a strange christening of sorts to have the book talked about live on their broadcast. He held it up to the camera along with the vinyl, which was dope. Watch that clip here: https://twitter.com/DylanOwenmusic/status/1219811845156016134. Also, shoutout to the talented Gabe Lemmie who played trumpet with me.

Hope you guys like the sound of this live session. Thank you to Paste for having us.
